Updating from a higher level

In this webinar you will learn how to use the SQL Server Query Store to identify query plans that have changed for the worst after an upgrade, recent optimizer changes and Microsofts new support policy that lets you use older compatibility modes forever. When upgrading databases from an older version of SQL Server using either the backup and restore method or detach and attach method the compatibility level does not automatically change and therefore your databases still act as though they are running using an earlier version of SQL Server.

As mentioned above any database that is upgraded using the backup and restore or detach and attach method will not change the compatibly level automatically, so you will need to check each database and make the change. It is recommended that Java 6 be removed from your computer to make it more secure. For daily updates, you can select the time of the day for the update.By enabling your system to check for the latest version, you keep your system secure with the latest patch updates. We strongly recommend that you do not disable the update feature.

The compatibility level that is used is the compatibility level of your model database.
